Incongruities

I was just watching Anthony Bourdain’s “No Reservations” on TV. He was in Paris. Of course.

I was in heaven. The ways in which gastronomy in Paris is changing so that for the price of an every day bistro meal, you can have the equivalent of a starred Michelin restaurant, is beyond the pale. Sign me up.

Beautiful cheeses, gorgeous wines, dishes that I would NEVER eat if prepared by the hand of most chefs here, I would eat in a millisecond, there.

Then a car commercial came on. I can’t remember which brand, but they were driving this cool gizmo car out to the Bay of Fundy, buying an albino lobster and then taking it to a friend’s house to cook and devour. The scene is beautiful: lovely table, steaming lobsters, fresh green salads, enticing place settings with crystal stemware and the glasses were filled with … wait for it … water.

OH MY CANADA!
